Saturday 21 March will
see the Goldwagen Challenge brigade head for the
picturesque Killarney Race Track in Cape Town for
the opening round of the 2009 Pro Tour Road Show.
This very popular tin-top formula consistently
produced the biggest field of all of the
participating formulas throughout the 2008 season.
The first race of the year is bound to be filled
with the customary close racing that only the
Goldwagen Challenge can provide. Plenty of thrills
and spills were witnessed last season and action a
plenty is expected from some of the best drivers in
the country.
New driver and car combinations leave the individual
Class championships wide open as no one knows quite
what to expect yet. With Jason Finney not racing
this year the battle for Class A honours could see
any number of competitors in line for the title.
Defending Class B champion Carlos Nobre moves up to
Class A leaving the Class B title available to a
number of talented and eager drivers. |

Jakes Jacobs should be
back to defend his Class P title with lady racer
Elna Croeser looking set to defend her Class C
title. She has already set a new Goldwagen Challenge
record in 2008 by becoming the first female to win a
Class title in this popular VW based tin top
formula. Can she make it two in a row in 2009?
The success start of a new season could not be
possible without Series sponsors like Goldwagen,
Wynns, SS Telecoms, Sabertek, Norbrake, Eduardo
Construction, Rapid Motion, Speed & Sound Magazine
and of course the entire team who have made the Pro
Tour the success that it turned out to be over the
last two years. |
