Red
Square ZX10 Masters Tackle the New Kyalami
|

The
Red Square Kawasaki ZX10R Masters Cup square up to a
Kyalami circuit which has seen the controversial
chicane changed into a high speed right hander which
will be a new test of the riders courage.
We can expect a bulging grid of pilots with more on
the new model machines finding the right settings
and this together with the circuit changes should
see lap times tumble substantially.
The usual suspects will contest the top placings in
both classes A and B. Remember to look for the 35 –
45 year old pilots on the Class A machines with
Black numbers while the senior statesmen over 45
years will carry the Red numbers.
Class A will be a very closely fought affair between
Gavin Lightfoot and Danie Maritz who have 2 wins
apiece after the first 2 meetings. Kyalami should be
a level playing field and should provide fireworks
right up to the final flag between these two. Likely
to contest the final step on the podium should be a
dogfight between the ever improving Pieter De Vos on
the Essential Hardware machine, Joe Shearer who
returns to his home circuit, East Londoner Jayson
Lamb and “Roydenator” Bennet who is quickly
recovering from a big pre season crash. Looking to
fill the sought after top ten positions will see
tight racing from Hannes De Vos, Chris Van Vuuren,
“Rick the Racer” Carmody, Sergio Da Silva, the “Dog
Doctor” Stew Christie who has made a welcome return
on the Mailwise Racing Machine and “Big Simon”
Bezuidenhout from Nelspruit. |

Class B should see
Gilbert Parsons in a class of his own at his home
circuit on the Emtek ZX10. In the absence of Christo
Van Staden who is still recovering from injuries
sustained at the last Zwartkops meeting it will be a
dash to fill the 2 lower steps on the podium with
Franceua Nell, a returning Sarel Marais, Trevor
Elske on the other Mailwise Racing machine, new boy
Franz Kollberg who has shown that he can run with
the quick boys and Pierre Le Roux on the Bufallo
Motorcycles Racing machine.
We can look forward to non-stop action from the Red
Square Kawasaki gladiators with lots of thrills and
hopefully not too many spills at the South African
home of motorsport. Remember too that the spectators
are more than welcome to visit the pits and have a
chat with the riders and have a closer look at the
machinery. |
