Ferrari pilots have dominated Class B
but a handful of Porsche pilots and a lone Lotus are
out there to upset the apple kart. Nine Ferraris
will be out at Zwartkops with Parsad, Christo
Lindeque, Gerald Chapman, Jeremy Pougnet and Loris
Chiappa in 430 Challenge versions and Nic Chapman,
Andrew Miller, Franco Scribante and Bob Neil in
360s. Pieter Joubert is the first non-Ferrari in the
Class B title chase, going to Zwartkops in eight
place but hopeful of climbing a few spots before the
end of the year. Parsad leads the class with Pougnet
right there in second. Nic Chapman holds steady in
third.
Porsche are back to the top in Class
D with Cole-Edwardes holding station at the front of
the pack. Nicky Dicks is second but has Porsche 944
Turbo Cup pilot Barry Nel in close attendance. Class
E is again a Porsche front versus rear-engine fight
with Charl Arangies' Porsche 944 Turbo leading the
rear engined 911s of Dave Fourie and Anthony
Blunden. A spanner in the Class D works could be the
performance of the Mark and Jonathan du Toit. The Du
Toits are regular front runners at Zwartkops with
their guttural sounding V8 Daytona Cobra replicas.
Pierre Martins will be out to keep
his overall Altech GT Challenge Championship hopes
alive with a winning performance in Class E. Dillon
Miller is second on point but his non entry should
give Martins the required breather space.
An ever increasing number of Porsche
924s are joining the Altech GT Challenge races and
the Zwartkops entry confirms this trend. Johan
Grobler, Marius Wait and Melt Malan are the front
runners here but Mark Harvey, Dave Parratt and John
van Wyk can't be written off on the day. |
