Former South African Formula
Ford and US Barber Dodge Pro Series
Champion, Jaki Scheckter (35) will make his
comeback to competition this Saturday at
Zwartkops where he will race in the Shelby
Can-Am event sponsored by Pablo Clark
Racing!
Having won the 1992 Formula
Ford title at the age of 18 Scheckter, who
was born deaf, set his sights on an
international career and headed to the USA.
One of the drivers he beat in the Barber
Dodge championship was a little known
Columbian by the name of Juan-Pablo Montoya.
Sadly a lack of funds prevented him from
moving into the Indy Lights series, this
despite having an engine deal which was part
of his prize for winning the Barber Dodge
title.
Scheckter, who recently
returned from the USA is now based in
Gauteng and is the son of six times SA
Drivers champion Ian.
